WRc has won a new contract to provide support to the European Commission on the implementation of the Drinking Water and Urban Waste Water Treatment Directives. Under this 3 year contract, WRc will be organising a series of seminars in Member States and Accession Countries to promote best practice and to disseminate knowledge and experience of state of the art technologies to improve the Directive implementation in some Member States.
WRc is also a partner in the successful consortium winning a 3 year contract providing support to the Commission on implementation of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive. The Directive aims to protect and preserve the marine environment, prevent its deterioration or, where practicable, restore marine ecosystems in areas where they have been adversely affected; and, to prevent and reduce inputs in the marine environment with a view to phasing out pollution, to ensure that there are no significant impacts on or risks to marine biodiversity, marine ecosystems, human health or legitimate uses of the sea.
WRc will be leading tasks on compliance checking of Member States’ implementation of the Directive. This work builds on our experience as leader of the consortium providing technical support to the Commission on implementation of the Water Framework Directive.
